Terms of Service

These terms apply to your use of the Shop Coco website at shopcoco.co.za and to everything you buy from us. By browsing the site or placing an order you agree to them, so please read them. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the site.

1. Who we are

Shop Coco is an online retailer of skincare, sun care, cosmetics and supplements, operating from Cape Town, South Africa. Our contact details are set out in our Contact Information page. The store is hosted on Shopify.

2. Using the site

You must be 18 or older, or have the permission of a parent or guardian, to buy from us. You agree to give us accurate contact, delivery and payment information, and to keep your account details secure if you create an account. You may not use the site for any unlawful purpose, attempt to interfere with its security, or scrape or copy its content for commercial use.

3. Products and descriptions

We take care to describe and photograph our products accurately, but colours and packaging may look different on your screen and manufacturers occasionally change their formulations or packaging without notice. Product descriptions, ingredient lists and usage guidance are provided for general information.

Nothing on this site is medical advice. Our products are cosmetic and general wellness products and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition. Always patch test a new product, read the manufacturer instructions, and speak to your doctor, dermatologist or pharmacist before using a new product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are taking medication, or have a skin or health condition. Supplements are not a substitute for a balanced diet or for medical treatment.

4. Prices and payment

All prices are shown in South African Rand and include VAT at 15%. Delivery is charged separately and is shown at checkout. Prices, promotions and availability can change without notice, and the price that applies to your order is the one shown at the time you place it.

Payment is processed by our payment providers. We do not store your card details. Your order is only accepted once payment has been received and we have sent you an order confirmation.

5. Stock and orders

All orders are subject to availability. If an item you have ordered turns out to be out of stock, we will contact you and offer you a replacement, a partial refund or a full refund. We may decline or cancel an order, for example where there has been an obvious pricing error or where we suspect fraudulent use of a payment method.

6. Delivery

Delivery costs, timeframes and conditions are set out in our Shipping Policy, which forms part of these terms. Delivery times are estimates and are not guaranteed. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery.

7. Returns and refunds

Your rights to return items and receive refunds are set out in our Returns and Refunds policy, which forms part of these terms. Because we sell skincare, cosmetics and ingestible products, returns of opened items are restricted for hygiene and safety reasons. Nothing in our terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.

8. Intellectual property

The Shop Coco name, logo, site design, photography and written content belong to us or to our suppliers and brand partners, and may not be copied, reproduced or used commercially without our written permission. Brand names and product images remain the property of their respective owners.

9. Reviews and content you submit

If you send us a review, photograph, comment or suggestion, you give us permission to use it in our marketing and on our site and social channels. You confirm that it is your own, that it is honest, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. We may edit or remove content that is unlawful, offensive or misleading.

10. Links and third parties

Our site may link to other websites, and we use third party services for payments, delivery and analytics. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third party sites, and you use them at your own risk.

11. Relationship with Shopify

Shop Coco is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide these services to you. Any sale or purchase you make in our store is made directly with Shop Coco. Shopify is not responsible for any aspect of a sale between you and Shop Coco, including any injury, damage or loss resulting from purchased products, and you release Shopify and its affiliates from all claims arising from your transactions with Shop Coco.

12. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site or from the products you buy, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the order in question. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability under the Consumer Protection Act.

13. Privacy

We handle your personal information in line with our Privacy Policy and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you place an order is the version that applies to that order.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
